PRETTY RED SHOES

Lady Luck

A long time ago
I thought I knew
Just how my life would go
If I worked hard and
Didn’t stray from what
I knew to be true
Then I met you!

Since I was small
I imagined
I would always stand tall
Rise above the crowd
If I knuckled down,
kept my feet on the ground
good fortune would abound

Oh, Lady Luck must have picked on me
and sent me your love
I must have an angel looking down on me
from up above
Serendipity must have it in for me
For things to work out so splendidly!

A long time ago
I never really
Thought about love at all
I guess I thought one day
If I was lucky
and I played my cards right
I might win the game and find you one night

Oh, Lady Luck must have picked on me
and sent me your love
I must have an angel looking down on me
from up above
Serendipity must have it in for me
For things to work out so splendidly!

Oh Lady Luck must have an ace up her sleeve . . .

Home Is Where The Heart Is

He had his bed, his chewies and his foodbowl packed
He had a grin on his face and the wind at his back
He had everything a dog could wish for
Except a home

He was friendly when they came to look at him
He never barked or growled or even whined at them
But somehow no one ever went out on a limb
And took him home

Oh Home is where the heart is
Home is where the kettle’s on
Home is where a dog should be
Chewing on a bone . . .

Then a couple came in and he them liked right away
They had a little kid and another on the way
They had everything a dog could ask for
Except a dog

Well he wagged his tail and he smiled real big
Then he walked over to the little kid
Put his head on his lap and got a little rub
It was love

Oh, home is where the heart is
Home is where the kettle is on
Home is where a dog should be
Chewing on a bone . . .

Well this could go on and on but it would bore you to tears
Let’s just say they had many happy years
The kid grew up and built a life of his own
And gave another little dog a home

Oh, home is where the heart is
Home is where the kettle is on
Home is where a dog could be
Chewing on a bone

I am free to a good home!

O Mosquito

What a delight-

It’s finally summertime
And it’s warm outside tonight
There’s a barbeque
Champagne and me and you
And everything feels right...
(slap!)

Oh mosquito, witchya long, long legs
What is it you want from me?
Yes, I see you been there, on my skin there
You left it all red and itchy...

In my bed the Sandman’s there
A window’s open for some cool air, and
We have a blanket to share
Riding on the moonlight,
It’s full and bright tonight
And we haven’t a care
(slap!)

Oh mosquito, witchya long, long legs
Is it my blood you want from me?!
Yes, I know you been there, on my skin there
You left it all red and itchy...

Next day, in the bath,
I can see who’s gonna have the last laugh
Red bumps all over me!!
Ooo, how it itches!
Underneath my britches!
Next year, mosquito, we shall see!

Oh mosquito, what do I have to do-
To get through that you not welcome here?!
I do all  I can to come up with a plan
To make sure you get the message loud and clear
(slap!)
Oh, mosquito! I will not be your prey!
I will get bombs and cans of spray!
Yes I will see you there, your wings and legs lying in a heap there!!
Goodbye, mosquito. . . and have a nice day. . .

Pretty Red Shoes
Look there in that window!
Delicious, red and beckoning
Buy me buy me buy me
Ooo, how can I say no?
I deserve the best, you know
My mama told me so

I wiggle my toes
Shining, gleaming, ruby red
Buy me buy me buy me
Ooo, these would steal the show!
In a box with a big red bow
Lead me to a yellow brick road

Those pretty red shoes
Could take me anywhere
Could take me to the Ritz
Could take me through that jungle out there
These pretty red shoes
I’d wear them twenty-four-seven
I’d wear them straight into your heart
I’d wear them (all the way) to heaven

Look there in that window!
Delicious, red and beckoning
Buy me buy me buy me
Ooo how can I say no

I deserve the best, you know
My mama told me so!

Those pretty red shoes
Could take me anywhere
Could take me to the Ritz
Could take me through that jungle out there
These pretty red shoes
I’d wear them twenty-four-seven
I’d wear them straight into your heart
I’d wear them (all the way) to heaven

You Know Me Now

You know me now
You know I’ll always love you
Put no one above you
You know.

You know me now
You know I’ll never leave you
I'll never deceive you
You know.

Mark my words -
I mean what I say
I’m gonna be around
Come what may
Upon my life!
Every day . . .
You know.

You know me now
You know I’ll never doubt you
I can’t live without you
You know.

You know me now
You know I’ll always care for you
I’ll always be there for you
You know.

Mark my words -
I mean what I say
I’m gonna love you
Till my dying day
Upon my life!
In every way . . .
You know.

Believe In Us

I can see you’re undecided
I can tell you don’t know which way to turn
Baby let me help you make your mind up
About us

I could see a while ago
This faraway look in your eyes
Baby let me help you see you can
Believe in us

'Cause I don’t want to try to live without you
I don’t want to be on my own
I don’t want to look back and think
I should have tried harder
And end up
All alone

I’ve always thought we were so lucky
I can tell you don’t feel that way too
Baby let me show you why I still
Believe in us

'Cause I could see a long time ago
We would have to make it through
Some hard times and still keep the love
All around us

'Cause I don’t want to learn to live without you
I don’t want to be on my own
I don’t want to look back and think
I should have tried harder

And I don’t want to go to sleep without you
I don’t want wake up on my own
I don’t want to look back to see
You walk away from me
And end up
All alone

A Love Like You

If I had a love like you
I wouldn’t waste a moment
I wouldn’t take for granted
I wouldn’t let it go

If I had a dream of home
home just like where the heart is
I would hang my hat there
I wouldn’t let it go

I wonder where
My heart would go
On a journey of its own
A place outside of me
Free to roam
Into the unknown

If I had a big balloon
I would just float below the clouds
I would see everything
I would let my heart go

If I had a love like you
I would tell you everyday
I wouldn’t waste a moment
I would never let you go

I wonder where
My heart would go
On a journey of its own
A place outside of me
Free to roam
Into the unknown

If I had a love like you.

Take Me Down To The River

Wo oh, take me down to the river
Where I will get down on my knees
I will pray to the heavens above
Oh Lord, won’t you save me please?

I may have gone too far this time
I may have gone astray
I have trod on many, oh dear Lord
I have only myself to blame

Looking back
On bridges I have burned
You really would have thought
By now I would have learned

Wo oh, take me down to the river
Where I will get down on my knees
I will pray to the heavens above
Oh Lord, won’t you save me please?

Heaven knows I am grateful for

The light that shines my way

I have had more than I deserved

And many times I’ve thrown it all away

I have stood

And watched the heavens cry

I won’t let you down

Cross my heart and hope to die

Wo oh, take me down to the river
Where I will get down on my knees
I will pray to the heavens above
Oh Lord, won’t you save me please?

Death and Taxes
I was advised
My stuff will be divided
By the likelihood of my demise

Is there any way
I can depart this mortal coil
Without leaving it all behind?

Where there is a will
There is a way
Where there's a will
You can bet there’ll something to pay
There are some things
That can’t be kept at bay
Death and taxes
At the end of the day

I finally decided
How it all would be divided
At my demise

Is there any way
I can depart this mortal coil
Without feeling compromised?

Where there is a will
You can give it all away
Where there's a will
It’s sure to rub somebody up the wrong way
There are just some things
That can’t be kept at bay
Death and taxes
At the end of the day

Where there is a will
You can have your say
Where there's a will
You won’t be turning over in your grave
There are just some things
That can’t be kept at bay
Death and taxes
At the end of the day

Where Are You

I don’t want to walk home alone
I don’t want to open the front door to find no one

I don’t want another long lonely night
I don’t want to be by myself you know it just ain’t right

That someone like me

Can’t find someone like you
Where are you?

Every morning I go out just like the day before
A sea of faces pass me by and still I cry out for
The one who would make me his number one
The one who can light up my world just like the sun

Why can’t someone like me find
Someone like you
Where are you?
Where are you?

This world is made for two at its very core
Why can’t I find somebody who’s not spoken for?
Where on earth can he be?
The one who is in this world
Just to be with me?

I don’t want to walk home alone
I don’t want to open the front door to find no one

I don’t want another long lonely night
I don’t want to be by myself you know it just ain’t right

That someone like me

Can’t find someone like you
Where are you?
Where are you?

Your World and Mine

When your world and mine collide
Someone always breaks a heart
Someone always ends up crying
Afraid it will tear us apart

When your world and mine collide
Someone always feels the pain
Someone always ends up trying
To put us back together again

Tonight someone needs an angel
Someone needs a friend
Baby we need to find a way
To look each other in the heart again

When your world and mine collide
Someone will walk out the door
Someone will be left alone
Like a thousand times before

Tonight someone needs an angel
Someone needs a friend
Baby we need to find the strength
To look each other in the heart again

When your world and mine collide
Someone always takes the blame
And this time it’s me again
Some things never change...

That’s When You Know

When a rainbow
Is enough to make your day mighty fine
You don’t even notice the rain

When a warm embrace
Is all it takes to make you want to stay close by
you don’t even mind the pain

That’s when you know you’ve found it
What everybody’s looking for
That’s when you know deep in your soul
You don’t have to search anymore

When the moonlight
Is enough to brighten your world in the dead of night
You don’t even notice the dark

When a kiss
Is enough to turn your whole world upside down
You feel it in the bottom of your heart

That’s when you know you’ve found it
What everybody’s looking for
That’s when you know deep in your soul
You don’t have to search anymore, no no no
You don’t have to search anymore

Sister Cadillac

She got the rosary so big she can’t hide
She got a Cadillac waiting outside
She gonna take us all for a ride
In a Coupe de Ville a la 1955

She got St Christopher on the dash
“Jesus is my Co-pilot” bumper sticker on the back
She got a prayer book in the glove box

In case it’s a bumpy ride . . .

She joined the Order of the Consecrated Life
Chastity, poverty and obedience are prescribed
But she took no vow of any kind
Which would make her leave her beloved Cadillac behind

She got St Christopher on the dash

“Jesus is my Co-pilot” bumper sticker on the back
She got a prayer book in the glove box

In case it’s a bumpy ride . . .

She got fish on Friday
She got Father O’Malley to abide
She been putting Hail Marys in the bank
Just to be on the safe side

Once she was a Novice in the ways of the automobile
But now she in the habit of getting a thrill
And she ain’t in the race just to stand still
As long as she’s sitting behind the wheel

She got St Christopher on the dash
“Jesus is my Co-pilot” bumper sticker on the back

She got a prayer book in the glove box
In case it’s a bumpy ride . . .
